Support For Carers

When people talk of their wellbeing, they are referring to their physical, emotional, mental, and social health.  

Being in a Caring role can have a negative impact on your own wellbeing. We understand that, and you're not alone - many other Carers will be having similar experiences. Whether it be because of physical strains of your particular caring role, lack of sleep, or the worry of seeing a loved one who is ill.

We offer a wide range of groups and services are designed to help you in your Caring role, and improve your wellbeing. 

Registering with us as Carer is the first step to helping you in your Caring role. The Carers Assessment that you will get a useful way of working out what best fits your circumstances.

Support in hospitals

There is a carer support serviced based in both Northampton and Kettering General Hospitals. The carer support workers (CSW’s) have developed close links with the hospital staff and are therefore ideally placed to support informal carers, whist the cared for person is in hospital and throughout the discharge process. Community Companions gives a break to those who have a caring responsibility for a husband, wife, partner, parent, relative or friend. Visits take the form of befriending and involve meeting the same person in their own home. Read more

GP Surgeries

GP Surgeries

Northamptonshire Carers has been partnered with GP practices for over 14 years to identify and support " hidden carers " by the department of health, the project encourages GP staff to recognise carers register them and with consent refer them to Northamptonshire Carers for support. Increased referral's have shown that supported carers are less likely to visit GP's with stress related issues. Read more

    Carer One Stop Shop. One Angel Square. Every other Tuesday.

    Every other Tuesday meet us at One Angel Square, Northampton where we are holding a One Stop Shop, you can receive advice on your Caring role, signposting and information. A private pod provides a safe space to talk to our Carer Support Worker. From 10am to 2pm.

    Everyone is welcome to our Summer Fete! Friday 21st August from 12 noon to 3pm. Carers, grandmas, uncles, children, grandchildren, mums, dads, guardians, neighbour's, teenagers and friends. Join in with our arts and crafts table, cakes, tea and coffee and treats for sale. We have a VR Headset experience room, bric-a-brac stall and much, much, more!     Respiratory Therapy Acute Response Team (RESTART) is a team of nurses and physiotherapists who provide care for patients with COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease). They support early discharge of patients with COPD and also run the Pulmonary Rehabilitation Programme.
