Mark Major MBE

We are absolutely delighted to share that our CEO, Mark Major, has been awarded an MBE in the King’s Birthday Honours List.

Mark’s journey with Northamptonshire Carers began in 1995, marking the start of an extraordinary chapter in the organisation’s history. From the very outset, he demonstrated a profound understanding of the challenges faced by carers, alongside an unwavering commitment to improving their lives. His early leadership was instrumental in establishing an innovative service—one that was the first of its kind in the country—and we remain immensely thankful for his vision and determination in those formative years.

Today, Northamptonshire Carers stands as a thriving organisation, with over 135 staff and 102 volunteers. The charity now supports more than 24,000 registered unpaid carers, a remarkable achievement that reflects Mark’s dedication, leadership, and long-standing commitment. We are incredibly grateful for the strong foundations he has built and the countless lives that have been positively impacted as a result.

Despite his many responsibilities, Mark has remained closely connected to carers across Northamptonshire. His compassionate leadership has transformed the lives of thousands locally, while also establishing the organisation as a model of excellence nationally. We sincerely appreciate his continued focus on the people at the heart of our work.

Mark’s vision has guided the charity’s growth from a single-issue organisation into a multidisciplinary leader in health and social care. Through his leadership, a network of integrated services has been developed to address the complex and evolving needs of carers and those they support. We are deeply thankful for his foresight, innovation, and enduring commitment to making a difference.

This honour is richly deserved, and we are incredibly proud to celebrate this milestone with Mark, with sincere gratitude for all he has achieved and continues to accomplish.
