Who can access our Young Carer Service?

To access our support, a Young Person needs to be:

Aged 5 to 17 years old
Caring or helping to care for a family member with a disability, mental health issues, or addiction
Impacted by their Caring responsibilities
Living - or attending school / college - in Northamptonshire

It's important to differentiate between Young People affected by living with someone who has an illness and someone who is in a Caring role.

Our service primarily supports those with necessary caring responsibilities, but we can offer information and guidance to all families.

Get in Touch

Ready to get support or make a referral? We're here to help.

Following referral to the Young Carers Service (YCS), an individual assessment will be completed to determine appropriate support. We aim to safely meet the needs of all young people, staff, and the public during our groups and activities.

While we strive to make reasonable adjustments for young carers who may struggle with instructions, emotional regulation, or social engagement, there may be cases where group participation isn’t possible. In such instances, we’ll explore alternative support options.

To help us assess how best to support each young person, please include detailed information about their needs in the referral. Feel free to contact the Young Carer team to discuss referrals further.
