Young Carers

Northamptonshire Young Carers Service

Northamptonshire Young Carers Service exists to help promote the health and wellbeing of young carers and their families.

We will work to make sure young carers are identified and recognised within our local community and help to prevent them taking on more responsibility than they should or could cope with. We aim to help them reduce feelings of isolation. We understand that young carers are individuals in individual families and have different needs.  We will allow young carers and their families a say in what our support will be with a focus on improving confidence and helping prevent the type of problems that young carer families may face.

We aim to promote an understanding of the balance needed between being a Carer and having an opportunity to have hopes and dreams that will in turn help young carers to fulfil their individual potential.

We all have mental health - it's what makes us feel the way we do - and with mental health, comes mental health needs.

Some of us can meet our own needs and others need help or support – and that’s OK, You’re Not Alone. Some of us feel stressed or anxious, some of us can’t always control our thoughts and feelings, some of us just don’t understand why we think and feel the way that we do.

Do you need help in supporting your mental health needs, or do you know someone who might need help or support? If so you have come to the right place. This website will provide you with information on how and where to get help and support. Don’t be afraid to Talk out Loud about your mental health needs.

This site is for everyone with an interest in the emotional wellbeing and mental health of children and young people in Northamptonshire.

We want to make sure that parents, professionals and other people working with children and young people are aware of local services, training and support materials. The Service Directory will allow you to search for services offered in your area dependent on your needs. The Document Library has a number of resources and toolkits to help you ranging from practical guidance on supporting needs, policies, academic papers etc. And the News area should be a place to keep you up to date with local, national and international news relating to emotional wellbeing and mental health.
