About carers Carers Awards 2023 Northamptonshire Carers are pleased to announce that nominations are open for our 2023 Carers Awards for unpaid, family Carers. There are 70,000 unpaid, family carers in Northamptonshire. All of them demonstrate amazing levels of dedication, love and support for friends and relatives with a disability, special needs, or a mental health condition. At Northamptonshire Carers, we know that Carers do a vital job. Our Carers Awards help raise the profile of unpaid Carers, and raise awareness of the amazing work that they do, often in extremely challenging circumstances. We would like to invite you to nominate an unpaid, informal Carer who you feel has gone above and beyond to make an extra special difference, in any of the following categories. Carer of the Year (18+) - sponsored by Greatwell Homes Young Carer of the Year (under 18) - sponsored by Northants Pilates Parent Carer of the Year (providing unpaid care for a child with special needs) - sponsored by Avant Garde Hairdressing Shining Star (a professional, volunteer or team who have gone that extra mile to support Carers i.e. teachers, social workers, receptionist etc) - sponsored by Cocoon Corporate Gift Agency Nominations are now open and will close on Sunday 10th September. You can make your nominations online, or on printed forms which you can get from Northamptonshire Carers at our groups or via staff. In addition, we will be presenting awards in the following categories: We would like to invite our Northamptonshire Carers staff and volunteers to nominate people for the Melanie Georgiou Health & Care Champion - this is in memory of our colleague who passed away in April 2023 and is very much missed. Investors in Carers Primary Care accreditation – in memory of Susan Byles Previous Carer Awards have been successful in highlighting the essential, albeit unpaid work that carers and young carers do. Whilst we cannot award all of the nominees, we believe that all carers are worthy of recognition and the support they provide to others is extremely valuable. These are the first in person Carers Awards since the COVID pandemic. Coronavirus and the subsequent cost of living crisis have put immense pressures on carers who often rely on a fixed income and were very much at the front line during the height of the pandemic. The Carers Awards provides an opportunity to raise awareness, celebrate carers and above all say a huge thank you. Gwyn Roberts, Chief Operating Officer, Northamptonshire Carers The Carers Awards will be presented in a ceremony at Moulton Community Centre on Thursday 28th September. We will also be presenting Investor In Carers Accreditations to GP surgeries and carer-friendly employers who have demonstrated a commitment to support carers.
