HSJ Awards 2022 - Shortlisted

Proud to be a finalist

We are delighted to announce that we have been shortlisted for the HSJ Awards for 2022, this is for our work around 'Carers as Equal & Expert Partners in Care' and with 1067 entrants we feel this is a fantastic achievement and one we are really proud of.

We have one more step to go through in presenting to the Panel on the 23rd September with the results being announced after the judging panel in October and then onto the Awards Ceremony on the 17th November.

The HSJ Awards are the most coveted accolade in UK healthcare, the HSJ Awards is the largest annual benchmarking and recognition programme for the health sector. Over the last 40 years the awards have been celebrating healthcare excellence through huge political, technological and financial challenges within the sector. Through a rigorous, fair and transparent judging process the awards produce a roll call of the best organisations, teams and people in the NHS and the wider health sector.

Northamptonshire Carers Embedding Lived-Experience into Integrated Care System Leadership. Northamptonshire Carers is Carer-Led, 100% of Trustees and 70% of our workforce are Carers or Former Carers. So, we understand the value of co-productive strategic and service delivery leadership in ensuring support remains responsive to Carers’ needs. As Northamptonshire ICS Delegated System Carers Lead, we advocate awareness of Carer’s critical contribution to health and care system sustainability and the importance of lived-experience leadership in shaping system strategy and service delivery. This resulted in the Integrated Care across Northamptonshire People’s Advisory Group which embeds an equal-and-expert strategic and service delivery leadership role for Patients and Carers within key Northamptonshire ICS transformation areas.

Mark Major, Chief Executive Officer at Northamptonshire Carers comments, “This really is wonderful news - the fact we’ve been shortlisted for System Led Support for Carers Award in the HSJ Awards 2022 will undoubtedly be a huge ‘pat on the back’ for our amazingly hard working and deserving team.

“Our staff always go above and beyond to improve Carer and patient outcomes and quality of service and care – and aligning with the HSJ Awards programme really allows us to share our success as well as everything we’ve learnt through implementing our project.

The successes in Northamptonshire are also due to the support of key funders our ICS, Unitary Councils and Children’s Trust as well as others and the way the statutory and voluntary sectors are working together.

“We hope we might even inspire other colleagues across the UK to pursue and put their ideas and innovations into practice too!”
