As part of our Silver Jubilee celebrations, Northamptonshire Carers invite you to pass the baton and help us complete a fundraising relay around the world.

Whether you cycle from Lands End to John O'Groats, run the London Marathon or simply measure your steps for a day, you could help towards our goal. Swimming the English channel may be unrealistic for most but a whole class of students could swim a mile each and get the same results.

Our idea is simple

There are around 70,000 Carers in Northamptonshire, each doing their bit to support a loved one. Without them the health and social care sector would collapse. This proves that collectively individuals can go a long way - we think to the other side of the world. The distance from our offices in Wellingborough to Australia is 9,017 miles. We're not asking one person to cover that distance alone but as team we could manage an equivalent distance - and maybe even go further.

How you can help

Arrange an event - use your imagination and invite others to join you. Feel free to contact us beforehand and we can set up your own fundraising page on our website where you can promote your event and sponsors can donate online.

During your event we want to raise the profile of carers using our hashtag #itcouldbemeoryou

After your event, simply let us know the distance traveled and remember that if more than one person participates - their distance counts too. If you send us your photos and videos we'll happily share them so that your can inspire others.

Why are we doing this?

70,000 Carers is 70,000 reasons to care. We are using our Silver Jubilee to raise funds to provide Carers a much needed break. More than this we are wanting to raise Carer awareness and prove that when the achievements of individuals are added together, huge goals can be realised. A relay is symbolic in other ways as by passing the baton, potentially isolated Carers can be supported by others - whether it be by their GP, family members or services such as our own.
