Silver Trailblazer Award 2023

We are extremely excited to announce that our application for REM Trailblazer Silver status has been successful!

Designed to recognise organisations who are driving meaningful change to tackle race inequality, Trailblazer status is more than an award.

After successfully achieving Bronze Trailblazer status in 2022 for addressing race inequality within Northamptonshire Carers.  We have progressed to further address race inequality in our organisation by listening to the needs of our Global Ethnic Majority (GEM) Staff, Volunteers, Carers and their Allies.  New developments included the establishment of 3 Staff Networks to give a voice and to support not only our GEM Staff, Volunteers and their Allies but also 2 further Networks.  Our Progressive Pride Network supporting LGBTQ+ and our Ability Matters Network for those identifying as Neuro-Diverse, Long term Health condition or Disability.

As an organisation we are making a positive change to address health and social inequalities to help give Carers, their families as well as colleagues here at Northamptonshire Carers to give a greater voice which will help us support more of the local community going forward.

Northamptonshire Carers listened to our GEM Carers and introduced the Norma Watson Living Well with Sickle Cell course.  We are also the first organisation in the country to include our provision within Integrated Care Services as a Community Asset Group.    We have made significant strides to support our Sickle Cell Warriors and their Carers with the implementation of the Course.

Thank you Race Equality Matters and the independent panel of experts who have recognised our commitment and achievements to becoming a more equal, diverse and inclusive organisation.
