Northamptonshire Carers have been fortunate in securing a contract to develop links with local Communities, helping to build resilience and improving the lives of unpaid Carers and those they care for.  Our aim is to help to bring Communities together particularly in rural and hard to reach areas providing information, advice and support.

One in three of us are or will be a Carer at some point in our lives.  There are an estimated 70,000 unpaid Carers in Northamptonshire where they may be juggling work, education and other commitments and often struggle with health problems of their own.

We will identify and train volunteer ‘Carer Champions’  and provide support in setting up new groups, Carer Cafes, wellbeing sessions and pop-up information hubs.  We really want to forge new channels of communication with existing and new Community projects.

This is a hugely exciting piece of development work for Northamptonshire Carers.  We look forward to working within Communities - raising Carer awareness and identifying and supporting so many more unpaid Carers championing all of the unpaid and unseen work they do 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and in turn helping to reduce isolation, loneliness and lack of resources.

If you would be interested in becoming a ‘Carer Champion’ and helping to provide a link within your local community we would love to hear from you.

If you know of any communities where this project would be useful or if you already have an existing group or project then please get in touch.
