Support We Provide Breaks for carers Carers Sitting Service Eligibility Criteria for Carer’s Sitting Service Who The Service Is For People who live in Northamptonshire. All carers and young carers however the looked after-person using the service must be an adult who is 18 plus. People with a range of needs, for example physical health problems, people suffering from dementia, Alzheimer’s disease. The cared-for person must have low-level support needs. Volunteers cannot provide personal care or cook meals, undertake cleaning or do shopping. What Kind Of Support Can The Sitting Service Offer Me? Low-level support provided by volunteers e.g. befriending; where appropriate accompanying to external activities, to residents of Northamptonshire. Time away from the caring role for the carer. The service is initially available between the hours of 9 am and 5 pm Monday to Friday. Support offered by the sitting service can be up to 3 hours in duration per session. Providing volunteers are available this can be a regular or semi-regular arrangement. How Do I Access The Service? You will need to complete a short referral form which will ask for some personal information on the person you care for including any health issues they may have, what other support they receive etc. You can also be referred by a Carers Assessment Support Worker or Young Carers Worker from Northamptonshire Carers who is currently working with you. You can be referred through the Carers Support Line. You can refer yourself and the person you are caring for to the service. Referral to the service can be through a professional involved in the care of the person you are looking after (for example their GP; social worker; community nurse).
