Virtual Breathing Space During Coronavirus Pandemic & Lockdown

During this difficult time Breathing Space has altered the way in which we are supporting our members. In the absence of being able to run our regular groups we have placed our emphasis on our telephone support service, setting up each group with a What’s App peer support group and providing a GP telephone appointment service run weekly by our Breathing Space GP Dr Robert Gale.

Our Breathing Space community is for all those who have COPD or related conditions and their unpaid carers. Those who wish to do so are being called regularly to ensure that all is well with support to resolve any current problem. There have been some fabulous social calls, calls to support those who are struggling and those who just need a bit of help to set up shopping or medication collection. We are here to support you whatever your need.

Ways in which we can support you during this difficult period of time.

  1. Via our Breathing Space support line – 07540669727. For those who are hard of hearing please text on the above number or email [email protected]
  2. Our team would be delighted to take on new members. Whilst anyone is able to use this website, to access more individual support we would invite you to become a member. There is no cost to becoming a member.
  3. We now have a GP telephone support clinic run by our own Breathing Space GP Dr Robert Gale. This service is limited to non-urgent questions regarding COPD related difficulties. We accept members with any COPD related conditions as well as Asthma, Sleep Apnoea etc. The telephone GP clinic is run on a Tuesday morning and to make an appointment please ring Penny Edwards on 07540669727 by Monday at 5pm prior to day of appointment.
  4. Provide a regular telephone check call, text or email to ensure all is well and deal with any current difficulty.
  5. Provide practical help to enable you to get your shopping or meds delivered via GOV/NHS web site (could I have a hyper link to this please). If urgently required shopping and medication collection and delivery can be supported via the Community Resilience Team Northamptonshire County Council. 03001261000. Provide information on local volunteer services and shops who are now delivering to local areas.
  6. Breathing Space has set up individual Peer Support What’s App groups. The What’s groups are proving to be well supported with and are being used to send messages of support, hope and fun, funny video clip and quizzes.
  7. Our team will endeavour to support you with any problem or difficulty you may have, if we don’t know the answers, we will find someone who does.
