Jane Roebuck Carers Awards

The annual Jane Roebuck Carers Awards are coming soon, where carers across the county will receive the recognition they deserve.

Being a carer can be a positive experience but can also be physically and emotionally challenging. Many people choose not to describe themselves as a carer - it's just something they do for someone they care about.

Criteria for entries

The Jane Roebuck Carers Awards recognises unpaid carers whose efforts in providing care to someone else are, in the opinion of the judges, particularly exceptional and deserving of additional recognition.

This may be through:

  • Overcoming particular difficulties or barriers
  • Tackling specific challenges
  • Addressing unusual or unexpected circumstances
  • Or have been particularly creative or innovative in finding a solution to a challenge or problem to the benefit of the person they are caring for.
  • Do you know a carer who is juggling work with caring? Nominate them for the Carer of the Year award
  • Do you know an employer (either in the public, private or third sectors) who has provided excellent support for employees who are carers? Nominate them for the Shining Star award

We define a carer as someone who:

  • Regularly cares for a parent, child, partner, husband/wife, friend, relative, or neighbour who is physically or mentally ill; has a physical or learning disability; has drug or alcohol problems; or is frail or elderly
  • Is unpaid, of any age and may live with or apart from the person they care for

To be eligible, carers must live in Northamptonshire.

This year the awards ceremony, will take place at Barton Hall on Wednesday 24th January 2018. Take a look at last year's winners.

It will celebrate carers of all ages from around the county in the following categories:

Shining Star Award (A special person who goes that extra mile to support carers in education, health, social care, employer, etc.)

Nominations closed on 5th January 2018 but watch this space for news from the big day.
