Northamptonshire Young Carers Service

Northamptonshire Young Carers Service exists to help promote the health and wellbeing of young carers and their families.

We will work to make sure young carers are identified and recognised within our local community and help to prevent them taking on more responsibility than they should or could cope with. We aim to help them reduce feelings of isolation. We understand that young carers are individuals in individual families and have different needs. We will allow young carers and their families a say in what our support will be with a focus on improving confidence and helping prevent the type of problems that young carer families may face.

We aim to promote an understanding of the balance needed between being a Carer and having an opportunity to have hopes and dreams that will in turn help young carers to fulfil their individual potential.

Our Team come from a variety of backgrounds and experiences.
Over the years we have grown and we are also really fortunate to have a trusted army of Sessional Staff and Volunteers that you may meet along the way.

Our Coffee Morning in Northampton meets on the 1st and 3rd Friday of the month between 10am-12noon at Broadmead Baptist Church Rooms, Park Avenue North.
Singing for Lung Health, Wellingborough

Singing for Lung health for those with COPD or other respiratory breathing difficulties. 2nd & 4th Friday of the month
Parent Carers Group, North of County

The Kettering & Corby Parent Carers Group meet on the 3rd Thursday of the month between 10.30am and 12.30pm. Venues alternate between Kettering and Corby

Who are carers?

Anyone, including children and adults, who looks after a family member, partner or friend who needs help because of their illness, frailty, disability, a mental health problem or an addiction and cannot cope without their support. The care they give is unpaid
Support line

Our Carers Support Line provides a confidential service to support the needs of Adult and Young Carers, including Parent Carers. The service can be accessed by Carers, professionals or anyone with a Carer related enquiry or issue.

Role of ROCKET and RESTART

Respiratory Therapy Acute Response Team (RESTART) is a team of nurses and physiotherapists who provide care for patients with COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease). They support early discharge of patients with COPD and also run the Pulmonary Rehabilitation Programme.
