Although we offer a wide menu of services, we don't claim to know everything. There are countless charities, large and small, that have their own specialisms such as health conditions or localities. We have provides a list of services which can be found here - please note that we are unable to recommend any of these services so please check that you are happy with them before engaging with them.
As our name suggests, we support Carers in Northamptonshire we can point you in the right direction if your caring role crosses county borders.
Strictly speaking the responsibility for providing Carer support lies with the local authority where the person you care for lives, which may differ from you the Carer. For example if the Carer lives in Brackley, Northants but the person you care for lives in Banbury, Oxon then the local authority covering Banbury would have a responsibility to complete your Carers Assessment and provide support. This is set out in the 2014 Care Act and if the above locations were reversed, the opposite would be true. Despite this, we try to maintain a common sense approach and even if we can't complete a formal assessment you are more than welcome to contact our Carers Support Line for advice & information as well as attending one of our Support Groups or Carers Cafes.
If you are unsure which Local Authority covers your area, or that of the person you care for this can be checked here.
Although we are an independent charity, we are a Network Partner of the Carers Trust. Do you or a loved-one care for someone outside of Northamptonshire and want to know about local services. Read more
