Northamptonshire Carers are delighted to be named by Northants Pilates’ customers as their Charity of the Year. This has already raised £2000 for local unpaid carers and young carers with a cheque presentation by Northants Pilates and Northants Community Aid.

This generous donation and support will help us provide much-needed breaks from their caring roles for local carers and young carers. Those who provide unpaid care are the backbone to our society and often sacrifice time for themselves, so getting a break is an absolute must. Thank you to Northants Pilates and Northants Community Aid for this amazing support.

Gwyn Roberts, Chief Operating Officer, Northamptonshire Carers.

There are over 70,000 unpaid carers in Northamptonshire – people who provide care for loved one’s who in turn have disabilities, dementia, long term health conditions and mental ill-health.

Carers report that they often feel alone and have little time to socialise or look after their own wellbeing. Many carers also give up work to provide care, resulting in further lack of opportunities.

This donation will enable local charity Northamptonshire Carers to deliver breaks from busy caring responsibilities including a family fun day, coach trip, befriending and support groups, as well as supporting the Carers Choir. Breaks like these allow carers of all ages to take a few hours away from caring, often coming together to receive peer support, advice, information and most importantly – fun.

Northants Community Aid is a Northamptonshire based charity set up and run by a group of impassioned local people. It is supported by local small businesses keen to give back to the communities they work with.

Northamptonshire Carers would like to thank Northants Pilates and Northants Community Aid for making this possible and for their support for local unpaid carers.
