Connecting Carers Project

We have been very lucky in receiving funds from Carers Trust and the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport to further support carers and those who have dementia. While we have continued to work hard during these difficult times, this opportunity has meant we have been able to be more creative, more engaged and reach more people. By way of our befriending service, we have kept in touch with so many carers who are missing their ‘normal’ go to groups. They report that this is invaluable to them. Our Zoom activities have include a dementia friendly choir and keep fit class, and we have also hosted a live Dean Martin style gig! We will be holding sessions for reminiscence and floral arrangements in line with the seasons (think pumpkin and wreaths…..). We are now pleased to have a multi lingual website with thanks to this funding, hoping to reach even more carers who may have once felt excluded. Northamptonshire Carers are very thankful to have had this chance to showcase what we are able to achieve and more importantly, reach more people who need support.

    Who are carers?

The term 'Carer' can often be confusing. We use it in terms of someone who provides support for a relative or friend who has a disability, long-term illness or other additional needs. Sometimes the term 'Carer' can get mixed up for those who work for care agencies and care homes.
